abstract
The Czech education system is facing new challenges and opportunities, including the modernization of first aid training through digital technologies and virtual reality (VR). Virtual reality currently offers the opportunity to deliver (a) high-quality practical training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and (b) other first aid-related skills in a safe, simulated environment. This paper presents a comprehensive educational program in which pupils learn the recommended procedure (ERC Guidelines, 2025) for providing first aid in the event of sudden cardiac arrest in an adult, using the VR CPR application (Virtual Lab, 2025). At the same time, students strengthen their self-confidence and willingness to help through a simulation of cardiac arrest using virtual reality. When using a different educational application, the last part of the program needs to be modified accordingly. The aim of the paper is to encourage teachers and school administrators to use modern technologies in education and to provide inspiration for the meaningful integratation of VR into school practice through the example of first aid training.
